Create an easy to use, beautiful website for the only local Interactive Advertising Festival that would stand out as an industry standards beacon.
Internetics shaped and reshaped the local internet landscape. The winners were publicly acclaimed, their works receiving mass media attention. The largest agencies built their reputation on prizes won here. The best of the best had their eye on the new version.
We proposed a step forward from the previous version with a rather technological visual concept insisting on efficiency in design and usability, just as the festival was building awareness on the need for creative and efficient solutions to online communication.
While building a technological and strict design we still had the freedom to play with color schemes, stylish icons and innovative interaction solutions.
We chose sliders instead of old next/previous buttons to add novelty and ease of use to larger text and information areas. Submenus were positioned for faster access above the main menu. We’ve thrown in a little JavaScript magic and made sure the submenus fit well in the designated area.
Shiny new icons were custom designed for illustration and guidance through the website. So were inputs, buttons and many others. We made sure no area is left untweaked.
Using a Flickr pool and the Flickr API we added social media interaction and let visitors add their own photos to the festival’s media gallery.
As the last years saw complaints from the jury regarding the voting application’s usability we had to make sure the kind jury had no problem interacting with the new interface. And indeed they hadn’t.
